Starting tomorrow, Oct. 12, some Xbox One bundles will get a little bigger. Microsoft announced Thursday that the new third-generation Echo Dot will be included in “qualified” Xbox One S and Xbox One X bundles bought at Amazon — “while supplies last.”
This promotion comes in conjunction with an Xbox skill being added to the Xbox One for Alexa and Cortana devices. Following the failure of Kinect, voice commands have only been available with a mic while the console is turned on. Adding the skill to existing smart home setups means that Microsoft doesn’t have to create a whole new Kinect-like device.
Microsoft has been pushing a lot of bundles recently — the Xbox One S is only available in bundle form now — but interestingly, this isn’t a new bundle. Instead, Amazon is just adding an Echo Dot to bundle orders.
If you’re in the market for a new Xbox, tomorrow is the time to pick one up. The Xbox One S Starter Bundle is a great place to, well, start. It’s unclear whether the promotion will apply to pre-orders like the Fallout 76 bundle. We’ve reached out to Amazon and will update.
