Report: Avengers: Endgame getting theatrical re-release with extra footage

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says that Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in theaters on June 28 with new content. While the re-release won’t be an extended cut, Feige told Screen Rant that there would be a deleted scene, a tribute, and some “extra surprises” for fans who stick around.

The reported re-release could serve two important purposes: It can remind audiences going into Spider-Man: Far From Home that, yes, Peter Parker is alive, and it might help Endgame surpass the box office take of James Cameron’s Avatar, still the highest grossing movie of all time. While the fourth Avengers film smashed the box office — with an impressive $1.2 billion opening weekend — it currently sits about $45 million short of Avatar’s whopping $2.88 billion.

Avengers: Endgame was initially released without a traditional MCU end credits scene, ending with a small tribute instead of a tease for Marvel’s next big blockbuster. In May, Disney added the spoiler-filled trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home after the credits rolled. Teasing a deleted scene and extra surprises — right before the next stage in the MCU — might get fans to the theaters again, this time knowing when to use the bathroom.

Marvel and Disney, however, have not officially announced this re-release. We’ve reached out to both companies and have yet to hear back.
