John Wick TV series in development, Keanu Reeves may guest star

Keanu Reeves is re-teaming with John Wick co-directorsChad Stahelski and David Leitch, alongside writer Derek Kolstad, for a John Wick TVseries on Starz.

The network announced today it was moving forward with the previously rumored series, which will be called The Continental. The show will focus on the strange events that occur inside the hotel-for-assassins, The Continental, according to Deadline. Chris Collins, best known for his work on Sons of Anarchy, The Wire and Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle will act as showrunner on the series. Reeves, Stahelski, Leitch and Kolstad are set to produce.

It’s unclear if Reeves will be a reoccurring figure in the series, but there’s a possibility he may be given the opportunity to guest star as Wick. To be clear, while The Continental will be set in the John Wick universe, it’s by no means a series about John Wick. Deadline reports that show producers say The Continental will be “set in a hyper-real version of Los Angeles,” and will maintain “the urgency of the action along with the dry humor from the John Wick movies.”

The Hollywood Reporter adds that Reeves “is expected to make an appearance in the potential series but will not star as the project exists side by side with the feature universe,” producers said.

There is no estimated premiere date for the series at this time, but the third John Wick movie is expected to be released in 2019.
