Future trials of the SwagBot will focus on improving the robot's autonomy

With the sheer amount of labor involved in things like inspecting crops, removing weeds and counting yields, it is perhaps no surprise that farmers are looking to automate certain tasks. And they may soon have a new tool at their disposal, with researchers in Australia developing a durable robot that can navigate difficult terrain and round up cattle.

NASA’s fancy HDR camera captures rocket plumes in mesmerizing detail

The video of NASA testing its Space Launch System in the desert about month ago made for some pretty spectacular viewing. Ironically, however, using the world's most powerful rocket to light up six tons of propellant a second was always going to leave something in the dark, with cameras picking up the blast detail as nothing but a white, hot mess. As it turns out, NASA's B camera was a pretty capable piece of gear, with the agency taking the opportunity to test out an advanced high dynamic-range camera and capture the massive rocket plume in unprecedented detail.

World’s largest aircraft greets the public ahead of first flight tests

Airlander 10 making its first public appearance

The world's largest aircraft made its first public outing this week. On August 6 at 4:00 am BST, Hybrid Air Vehicles' helium-buoyant Airlander 10 airship, which was originally developed for the US Army as the Long Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicle (LEMV), was guided out of its hangar, Airship Shed 1, at RAF Cardington, Bedfordshire, UK, ahead of a short series of ground tests in anticipation of its first flight in Britain.
