Portable water-testing device binds and shines

Ordinarily, when drinking water is being tested for toxic heavy metals, samples of it have to be sent off to labs. And while there are portable testing systems, they do have some limitations. A new device, however, is claimed to work better – by copying a process that takes place within the human body.

Following over four years of construction, work is now finally complete on the Safdie Architects-led Jewel Changi Airport project. The impressive building, complete with indoor forest and the world's tallest indoor waterfall, will open to travelers on April 17.

The MultiTurret allows modern film makers to quickly swap between three lenses without needing the help ...

Before zoom lenses arrived on the scene, film makers used cameras featuring a few different lenses mounted to a rotating disc – meaning that they could switch from wide to close up to telephoto in the blink of an eye. Looking for a quick way to switch between different zoom ratios on large format modern cameras, award-winning cinematographer Ian Kerr, CSC, tapped into the past to create the MultiTurret.
